Expansive, wide open and free, a blue sky is the backdrop for so many summer memories. This beautiful bouquet of colour feels like a perfect late-summer afternoon spent in the shade of a colourful canopy and a gentle reminder to stop and enjoy the moment. It’s an end-of-season garden on full display, blossoms savouring every ray of sunshine and breath of warm air.
For this collection of colorful abstract paintings, I took every ounce of summer joy, each meandering and quiet morning and all the scents and sounds and wonder from the garden and slathered it onto the canvas in layers upon layers of colour. The slightly larger canvases gave me extra room to experiment with colour blends and develop additional movement and textures in the background. Summer is the season when I feel most alive, and it shows in these ‘Summer Detours’.
