How many times can I gush about my love for stormy skies? There are never enough times to swoon at a swirling sky, to stand in awe at the power of the wind and to let a dark sky sink into my soul. I love the depth of the navy, the shapes and shadows in the air and the pull of light on the horizon in this scene.
This is a painting for someone who wouldn't mind some added texture - there was a buildup of layers as I worked and some ridges and blobs left behind add to the story of a stormy sky. Somehow the chaos of a wild sky was tamed into something really quite enticing here.
