There's something cheerfully enchanting about this image. ‘Rose’ is one of those paintings that I completely, utterly, and unconditionally love without entirely knowing why. She breaks rules with a cheeky smile, skips through the palette picking colours at whim and then blushes with unabashed pride because she knows how fabulous she is. I must agree. She's a knockout.
'Rose' is a charming addition to the rainbow of colorful abstract paintings in my ‘Summer Detours’ series. These paintings reflect the easy-going feeling of summer afternoons spent outside sharing laughs with friends in the sunshine.
I used larger canvases for this series which gave me more freedom to play, blend and mix colours, and add interest and movement to the background. I spent hours with each painting, engrossed in the creative process and giving in to my unreserved love of colour with my typically playful composition.
The original ‘Rose’ painting is a lovely burst of summer colour that I kept for myself as one of my annual self portraits I paint to mark my evolution as an artist. I'm delighted to offer it as an abstract art print to bring the warmth and joy of summertime into your home year-round.
