'Aurora'

Early mornings in spring have a special feeling about them. It’s something about the combination of crisp air and the first rays of warming sun. Imagine being awake, outside, just as the first light of sunrise beings to quietly wash across the sky, pushing darkness aside, illuminating the clouds and highlighting an emerging palette of colour. With this ‘Aurora’ sky, I wanted to explore this particularly inspiring time of day with some softly daring colour choices, but from the safety of a familiar shore.

This art print was created from an original sky painting created in acrylics on canvas. Translucent clouds shimmer in the colours of early morning, just before daybreak. There’s a yellow glow along the horizon that gently blends into pastel tints of orange, peach, and pink, through to dusty green as the light reaches the waning night sky. Beneath this early morning sky, a lake glows with the reflected light from the kaleidoscope of colour above.
