Early mornings in spring have a special feeling about them; it's something about the combination of crisp air and the first rays of warming sun. Imagine being awake, outside, just as the first light of sunrise begins to wash quietly across the sky, pushing darkness aside, illuminating the clouds and highlighting an emerging palette of colour. With this 'Aurora' sky I wanted to explore this inspiring time of day with some softly daring colour choices, but from the safety of a familiar shore.
An archival print created from a large-scale sunrise painting in the 2022 'Midsummer Skyscapes'collection of abstract sky paintings, these skies portray the vibrant and joyful energy of spring. Each reflects the lively and fresh spirit of spring in a unique way, full of emotion, of vitality, of passion.
In 'Aurora', translucent clouds shimmer with colours of early morning, just before daybreak. The horizon radiates with a warm yellow glow that blends into pastel tints of orange, peach, and pink, through to dusty green as the light reaches the waning night sky. Beneath this morning sky, a lake glows with the reflected light from the kaleidoscope of colour above.

The size shown for an art print on fine art paper is the final sheet size, which includes a 1” border. The border gives the image ‘room to breathe’ and leave some space for my signature as well as space to accommodate framing with a mat.
The size shown for a canvas art print is the image size. Your canvas print will arrive rolled with an additional 2” border (white or printed) so you can wrap this around the stretcher frame of your choice. My signature runs vertically up the right side of the border.

My sky art prints are available on museum quality fine art paper or canvas with archival pigment inks, ensuring that the colors and details remain vibrant and crisp for years to come.
Prints created on fine art paper are created with a 1” border - the print size refers to the cut paper size including the border.
Canvas art prints are created with an extra 2” border for wrapping around a stretcher frame. This is available as white or printed with an extension of the image.
