Over the past number of years, I've learned to (somewhat) make 'friends' with winter and have found there to be extraordinary beauty in a frozen world. One might have to look more closely for inspiration, to seek colours out from the shadows and barren land, but the allure is there if you look deeply enough... and perhaps imagine a completely different kind of winter landscape like the one I painted here. The intense, midnight-moon serenity, the richness of colour, and the delightful scattering of powdery flakes of snow that dance to the ground have created the kind of winter wonderland that appeals to us all.
