There is no better way to bring a dash of your personality into a room than with art, especially when you have a large blank wall to play with. If you're thinking about giving your decor a bit of a refresh to welcome the arrival of spring, why not combine an iconic print with a standout frame to bring a bit of "wow" into your home?
I often get questions about framing and hanging prints so wanted to share a few thoughts and things to consider, as well as some of the standout pictures I've received of my prints in their new homes. Here are three stunning looks to inspire you!
Look #1 – Light and Airy
Combining a light-coloured frame with cool walls makes an overall impression that is calm, fresh and airy. This ‘Days Like These’ print hung above the mantlepiece makes the hearth the focal point of the living room and ties the room décor together as it reflects the colours in the rug beautifully.
The print is 24” x 24” and framed with a 3” mat to bring the total presentation size up to 30” x 30” creating a stunning focus of attention. The generous mat size gives the print room to breathe within the frame and scales the final piece up to fill the space in perfect proportion.
Look #2 - Dramatic
Turn up the volume on drama with a bold choice of frame. The combination of a wide dark frame and a narrow white border really makes this ‘Evening Song’ print pop. The thin white border of the print highlights print’s outline and separates the strong colours in the print from the frame. The scale of this 34" x 34" print makes the frame/print composition particularly successful. It’s a knockout punch for bold choices!
'Evening Song' will be released as a print later this Spring, sign up here to get a sneak peak before the collection is live.
Look #3 - Statement Chic
Above all, it's important not to crowd your statement piece with other large pieces that will compete for attention. Give your art enough room to have its full effect. This beautiful white frame in combination with the colours in this 'Days LIke These' print are a striking contrast in a room decorated in natural colours.
