Open Air
Hello breezy skies, big clouds, rolling hills, my old friends… nice to see you again.
The snow melted, the temperature rose, and I was too tempted by the bright promise of spring to stay city-bound. I needed to unplug, unwind, and get back out into the open air.
Over the course of a few weeks out on the trails this spring, with wind at my back and sun on my face, I hiked and biked in search of fresh ideas. Trees were blooming, colours brightening, and I found myself slowing down, taking in the textures of the landscape, watching the clouds, and quietly collecting moments to bring back to the studio.
And of course, everything I found and felt and dreamed up on those breezy days found its way into my studio and voilà! A whole new collection of lovely little Ontario landscape paintings appeared.
This ‘Open Air’ collection is filled with soft skies and billowy clouds, wide horizons and every shade of spring green. Although the landscapes feel expansive, I wanted each painting to remain intimate and quiet, so I chose to paint small. These are little original oil paintings of big Ontario skies, each one celebrating the colour, light, and peacefulness of the season.
I'm so happy to share these 27 original oil paintings, with selected works also available as prints. Seeing my studio fill with skies and landscapes again has been one of spring's greatest gifts, and I hope you enjoy exploring the collection as much as I enjoyed creating it.
